Aquilo |
Basic Info::
Gender: Male Age: 8 Species: Wolf Sexuality: Straight Personality: Aquilo is a bit of a jock. He loves sports and excels at soccer. At times, he can be very rude and an extreme show off, but this is from his competitive nature. As a pup, he had too many siblings to compete with so in order to be noticed, he had to go to drastic measures, and that attitude has stuck with him to this day. |
Backstory:
Growing up, Aquilo was always the smallest and least noticeable of his many siblings. His pale coat and timid nature meant he was often overlooked by his parents, pack, and fellow siblings alike. Aquilo grew frustrated at people constantly ignoring him and eventually he became louder and competitive. He started to be a show off, doing anything he could to be the center of attention. Anything from sports, to being the class clown, to acting out and getting in trouble; as long as he was the focus, Aquilo didn’t care what he did.
Though he finally had attention from his parents, they became rather fed up with his snarky attitude and rude treatment. When he was old enough to take care of himself, they kicked him out of their house and disowned him.
Betrayed and more alone than he’s ever been in his life, Aquilo wandered around the town in the very cliché rain that started to drizzle the second he left the house. Shivering and running as fast as he could away from his family, he didn’t bother to watch where he was going. Finally exhausted, he collapsed in a field. The rain was coming down harder now and there was lightning and thunder drawing nearer. He realized he should move to shelter but he couldn’t find the energy or motivation to do so.
Suddenly, a bolt of lightning struck just over the hill next to him. Fur standing all on edge, Aquilo struggled to his feet and tried to run the opposite direction. Another bolt of lightning struck the ground just feet from him. Aquilo could smell singed fur and could do nothing more than curl up in a defeated little ball of fear and rage. Rage that his family had betrayed him. Rage he’d had to become something his family hated, when all he ever wanted was their love. Rage he’d been ignored. Rage it had all come to this. Throwing back his head, he howled as loud and long and fiercely as he could, stuffing all the emotion he had built up into it.
His howl was almost cut short with surprise when he heard answering voices. A dark colored wolf with glowing blue marks was padding towards him with a little puppy in tow. They looked calm, even happy, despite the lightning strikes around them. Aquilo was about to tell them to run and hide from the storm when a lightning bolt came down from the sky and struck the dark wolf squarely on the back. Wailing in fear that she’d been killed, Aquilo bounded forward. The bolt was so bright that he was blinking spots from his eyes, but when they cleared he found that the wolf was standing and looking even more energetic than before. Little bolts of lightning played across the tips of her fur and the pup next to her looked up in admiration.
Completely at a loss and rather confused, Aquilo sat down and just stared in wonder. With a laugh, Circuit introduced herself and the pup as Sterling, then asked why he was out in the middle of a storm. Aquilo explained himself as best he could. As he talked, he realized what a jerk he’d been, all to get a little attention. He hoped that the Circuit and Sterling wouldn’t think too harshly of him, but then again, he’d deserve it if they did.
Despite his fears, Circuit wagged her tail and shrugged. “The past is in the past,” she explained. “If you’re willing to make a change, that’s all that matters!”
Assuring her he was ready to move forward, Aquilo found himself invited to return to Circuit’s pack. Sterling was terribly excited and ran around him in circles, begging him to stay with them. With nowhere else to go and no one else he knew, Aquilo quickly agreed and followed the girls back to Ephera.
Now used to being the center of attention, Aquilo was a bit of a show off at first. Idris finally called him out, pointing out that he didn’t need to try with them. If he wanted attention, all he had to do was ask. Aquilo blinked, processing this thought. When he looked up, all his new friends were smiling at him. He realized he finally felt more at home here, in the few minutes he’d known these creatures, than in the entirety of his life.
To this day, Aquilo is still working on his personality to this day and is much better about being less of an attention hog. Soccer is his big love, as is snow. When he saw snow for the first time while exploring Ephera, he decided to move to the snowy plains and made a little cozy cave for himself near some hot springs.
