Basque
Basic Info:
Gender: Male Age: 11 Species: Tiger Sexuality: Straight Personality: Basque is a gentleman to the heart. He acts very suave and high-class, especially to those he doesn’t know. But once you get to know him, he’s a cuddly goof-ball who loves to play. He has a serious side and often lays around in patches of sun while staring off into space and thinking. When it comes to Astreya, Basque is 150% devoted to her and cares for her more than anything in the world. Special note: Basque's scarf, bandanna, and bandages are optional. The bandanna and bandages are more casual and he wears them while exploring or mock-fighting. The scarf he wears for more dressy and formal occasions. |
Backstory:
Astreya found Basque asleep one day as she was walking around the woods. Being the goofball she is, she crouched down in a play-stalk and headed towards him. When she swatted him with one of her paws to wake him up, he rolled over into a crouch with a confused expression upon his face. He appeared a bit annoyed, bewildered, and still sleepy, but Astreya was very eager to play and tackled him before he had a proper chance to wake up.
Basque was still a bit baffled by the circumstances he was suddenly thrown in, but in the midst of their tussle, he realized that the strange blue and purple tiger was merely trying to play and ended up having more fun than he could have imagined. Their wrestling lasted until both of them collapsed, exhausted but quite happy.
Remembering her manners, Astreya introduced herself and asked what Basque was doing in the woods. He explained that he had been taken from his family by zookeepers when he was younger and had recently escaped. With no idea where he was or where to even begin looking for his family, he had remained in the woods for lack of anything better to do.
Astreya listened to his story sympathetically and sighed. It was sad to hear of someone losing their friends and family and home. She knew that feeling and she didn't want him to feel the same sadness she had felt all those years ago... So she invited him to come and meet Idris and the other members of her family/pack. It had to be a better option than staying alone in the woods, right? There was food and shelter and many friends! Maybe they could even help him find his way back home. But if not, well then he was certainly most welcome to stay with them.
Basque didn't even have to think about it. Astreya's infectious personality drew him to her and he immediately agreed. The two became inseparable within hours. He immediately became fast friends with everyone in the pack as soon as he met them, and took on a roll as their friend and protector.
To this day, Basque still looks for his family, but he isn't sure whether he wants to find them or not. Astreya, and the rest of the members of Idris' pack, are all the family he needs.
Both Astreya and Basque are completely dedicated to each other, and seem to feed off their own energy. Whereas Astreya is all giggles and playing and energy, Basque has a bit more serious side to him and will often be seen gazing out over plains or lakes, or calmly watching the others as they sleep. He enjoys composing poems with Thames, mock-fighting with Horus and Xanon, and going on hunts with Idris. His suave nature makes him quite the gentleman and he’s always courteous and kind to others. But most of all, more than anything else, he enjoys spending time, no matter what they're doing, with Astreya.
