Miri |
Basic Info:
Gender: Female Age: 5 Species: Psychic Cat Sexuality: Straight Personality: Miri is very cheerful and might seem a bit crazy at times as she often seems to talk to herself. What she’s actually doing is talking with ghosts! Yep, Miri is psychic and this is one of her powers. Another of her psychic powers is being able to see the future, but this tires her out so she rarely does it. Last among her powers (or those that she’s discovered so far), is the ability to read cards. She has a stack of tarot cards she inherited from an elderly gypsy woman she used to talk with, and she reads these cards for anyone who is willing to see their future. Special note: To use her psychic powers, Miri will tie back her bangs to show her third eye. When she opens her third eye, it begins to glow, along with her paws. Her other eyes shut so she can focus her sixth sense. When not using her powers, Miri will close her third eye and hide it behind her bangs. Even not using her powers, she can still see and talk to ghosts. But while using her powers, she can actually interact with them. |
Backstory:
Miri has been different all her life. Being a psychic, she was often either shunned or treated as an oddity, a specimen to be put behind glass and analyzed. Her parents couldn’t deal with her strange powers and kept sending her to see different doctors to try and “cure” her. She quickly grew tired of this treatment and ran away from home. She’d heard of a band of gypsy’s that traveled around and were currently located near the edge of her town, and she quickly went to try and find them.
It turned out that they weren’t that hard to find. A bunch of other animals of all shapes and sizes were gathered around a large bonfire, singing songs and eating. They welcomed her and her powers no questions asked and taught her how to use them. Miri was grateful and immediately fit into their ragtag band.
Miri soon learned how to use her third eye to see to the dead. Once this doorway was open for her, she was able to see ghosts even without using her powers. She often talks with them, and since no one else can see them, it sometimes leads to others thinking she is talking to herself. If Miri chooses to use her third eye, she can interact with ghosts while she helps them to try and find their way to the other side. The ghosts she has met so far have all been lost souls who were tied to the Earth in one way or another and Miri has taken it upon herself to help them fine peace. She has heard that there are other ghosts and spirits who have clung to life in order to gain vengeance upon their enemies, but she has (gratefully) yet to encounter these beings.
After she had learned to harness this power, one of the older gypsy’s in her new family took it upon herself to teach Miri how to read tarot cards. Miri was extremely interested in this and picked it up quickly. Her powers allowed her to read the future accurately and she likes to do so for anyone who will listen.
When she had traveled with the gypsies for a few years, Miri grew bored and longed for a more stable home where she wasn’t constantly on the road. As if to answer her prayers, a few days later a dragon shifter visited their camp. The other gypsies greeted her as an old friend and introduced her to Miri as Likka. The dragon shifter immediately settled down and started sharing stories with the group of her adventures and the gypsies also told her stories of their travels. Miri was fascinated with the dragon and stayed up late speaking with her, long after the others had gone to bed. The little cat asked Likka if she knew of any place that seemed like a good home and then explained that she was tired of constantly traveling and was looking of a place to settle down… at least for the moment. Likka smiled brilliantly and told Miri that she knew of a place. Promising to take her there the next day, the two of them went to bed with light hearts and smiles on their faces.
The next day, Likka lived up to her word. Both she and Miri said goodbye to the gypsies and then headed off towards the south. Miri pranced along eagerly, happy to be on an adventure to a new home. Eventually, the terrain grew rocky and Likka shifted into her dragon form, picked up Miri (who was small by comparison) and took to the skies. After an hour or so of flying, they had crossed over miles of land and were in the middle of a thick forest. Likka landed in a small clearing and Miri was surprised to find a cave and an intricately carved door that seemed to lead to nowhere. Pushing the door open, Likka revealed a whole other world behind it. Miri excitedly crossed over to Ephera, taking great delight in the wildflowers that grew around the door when she stepped through. The other members of the pack were gathered about, somehow knowing that a new member of their pack was about to arrive. Miri spent the next few hours getting to know everyone before she decided she wanted to live in a meadow. The pack immediately set about finding her a nice cave in which to live until she could make her own place.
Miri grew to love the cave, though she also has a treehouse in an apple tree that she lives in when the weather isn’t too cold or windy or stormy. She reads tarot cards for her friends when they ask and otherwise wanders around helping lost souls find their way to peace. Miri gets on with Rondo very well and enjoys helping him design and model clothes, and he looks after her as he would a sister.
