Backstory:
One winter, Idris had been patrolling the woods around the portal to Ephera when she noticed that there was an absence of snow in a particular area. Not like it had been cleared away or dug up, but more like it had melted from a heat source. Curious, she searched the area closely and noticed that it was indeed warmer inside the circle that had no snow. It was almost like she’d walked into a little bubble of spring. For the life of her, Idris couldn’t figure out what was causing the warmth. Baffled, Idris went back to ask Eos for help. The dragon was wise with his many years of experience in the world and Idris hoped he could help. She led him back to the strange warm pocket and looked at him expectantly.
Immediately, Eos recognized what was the cause and he started moving aside old leaves and grass, searching high and low. He told Idris to look for an egg about the size of a watermelon. Baffled, Idris did as she was told. Finally, Eos found a brown egg nestled into a hole in the trunk of a tree. It was intricately patterned with white and blue designs and was warm to the touch. Eos explained that the egg was the egg of a Spring Dragon. Once hatched, these dragons were cute, fuzzy little dragon babies that changed their fur color for spring/early summer and then lat summer through winter. This brown was most likely the color of its winter fur.
The two of them brought the egg back to Eos’ cave and sat near his heat-stones, watching the egg intently as if it were about to hatch at any moment. It did not, however, and by the time twilight rolled around, Eos heaved a deep sigh. He told Idris that there was no way of knowing when the egg would hatch without knowing when it was laid.
A little disappointed but understanding the reason, Idris nodded and started to head back to the portal when a sudden crackling noise stopped her in her tracks. Spinning around, she and Eos immediately went back to the egg, which had numerous small cracks running across the previously smooth surface. There were little whining noises coming from within and shards of shell started to fall to the floor as the egg rocked back and forth. Finally, a little clawed foot shot out between the tracks, followed by another one near the top of the egg. With a little gurgle, the baby dragon finally used up its strength to break the shell and push its way out into the world.
It gazed up at Idris and Eos with its fluffy little brown face and made a kind of cooing noise of pleasure at seeing them. Toddling over to the pair on rather wobbly legs, it nearly tripped on a piece of shell before Eos helped it back to its feet. The hatchling made its way over to Idris, whom it thought of as its mother just as it thought of as Eos as its father, and snuggled up close. Idris would have purred if she was a cat and immediately began to groom the baby dragon to get all the egg shell and goop off its fur. The dragon was exhausted from breaking out of its shell and the already overwhelming amount of new sensory input that it immediately fell asleep curled up between Idris and Eos.
As it slept, Idris and Eos decided to raise with the rest of Idris’ pack while looking for its parents, though Eos didn’t hold out hope of finding them. Spring Dragons were rare as it was, and he couldn’t imagine how the egg had come to them in the first place.
Over time, the baby dragon learned how to walk and talk. ___ was always curious and growing smarter every day. ___ still thinks of Idris and Eos as her parents, while the rest of the pack are ___ oddball family members. The little dragon is fond both of ___ blue coat and brown coat and eagerly looks forward to the changing of the seasons when ___ coat will switch to its other color.
___ can usually be found following Idris or Eos around, but ___ also has a fondness for Likka, the other resident dragon in Ephera. As ___ grows older, ___ grows more adventurous and spends more and more time wandering around Ephera, though ___ returns every night to either Idris' or Eos' cave to sleep, for ___ is too fond of them to spend too long of time away.
